History: I had wanted a hosting domain for a long time. I had a pop music/fan domain popfandom.com, but it went nowhere.. and I wanted a new one. Name: I bought the domain "Big-Dreams.org" but I hate having .org sites. I feel it's obviously for organizations. Then I really had a hankering for Colour-Dreams.. so I bought the .net. "Dreams" because I wanted my diary to be called lucid dreamer. I love "Dreams (before big dreams I was thinking everydaydream, but searches for a name like that brought up things like mundane, and that wasn't what I was going for.) And Colour, cuz I love colour and British spellings. ;) Host: My host is Dream Host. I'm very happy here. My Sweet Dreams plan just got boosted with 7 domains (4 more!) 35 subdomains (20 more!) 140 mailboxes (80 more!), 1,000 MB space, and 30 GB bandwidth. And they upgraded the cheapest plan to have what I used to have, which is at least enough for most! It's fabulous. (hehe) The prices stayed the same. They allow reselling with any plan, and they have a referral system which counts towards your payment. I'd definitely go with dreamhost's basic plan for most people! Remember to be aware of hosts that give "Unlimited Space." That just means they haven't calculated it exactly, they're thinking reasonable space. Apparantly they could decide 10MB is too much and kick you off or charge you more! |
